The shot is about a group of older women who come together in the city of Miami. Blanche owns the house they live in and Rose, Dorthy and Sophia are her tenants and friends. Rose is the naive lady out of the bunch. Sophia is the wise-cracking mother of Dorthy. Dorthy is the straight-shooter out of the group. Blanche loves to chase men and is known for her fast ways with the opposite sex.
The characters work together perfectly. The timing of the jokes are perfect and they are delivered well by great actresses. The running gag jokes seem to never get old. Whether they are making fun of Dorthy and her inability to get dates, or the fact that Blanche has too many dates, it’s all funny.
Actress Betty White, who plays Rose in The Golden Girls, has rejuvenated her career of late. But it is worth checking her out on The Golden Girls reruns.
We are planning a big summer vacation this year with our family. We have not gone on one in a long time and we are so excited. We wanted to make sure our home would be safe the entire time we are gone. We have done several things to ensure that it is fine. One thing we did was made sure the children and family realized not to post on social networking sites that we would be out of town. This is just inviting people to come break into your home. It is like you are advertising to the world that your home will be empty for a few weeks. The kids understood and we told them they can talk all about it when they get home.
We also have a neighbor who is going to check in on the house for us. They will just look over every few days. They will make sure that nothing looks different. After my satellite dish installation was done, I saw the funniest commercial. I just couldn’t help but laugh at it. It is for Axe Dry deodorant. This guy keeps raising his arms up in the air and water sprays out from his underarms. It is like a sprinkler going everywhere. It is so funny to me. He is dancing at a dance club and spraying everyone on the dance floor. There is a girl in the background talking about how she could not stand to be around this guy. Then he found Axe Dry and now they are a couple. You see her put the deodorant on him and he immediately stops spraying water out from his underarms. You then see them walking down the beach and he is normal now. It is just so funny to me watching the water spray out all over the place. I can’t imagine seeing this happen in real life and I think that is what makes it so great. This commercial was very creative. I am really impressed by whoever came up with this idea.
I have mixed opinions about friendship networks and kids. I do not allow my 12 year-old to add adults as facebook friends because I don’t think it is appropriate. I may be a bit on the cautious side with my kids, but I don’t even want him becoming a fan of any bands or musical groups, because often times these are not official artist spokespersons. In many cases it can just be an adult posing as the band. I do not allow him to be on myspace either, because it is all centered around music and it gets tricky.
I feel comfortable with monitoring some of his friendship network activity. He has his own laptop now which he got for Christmas and has limited satellite internet time. I cut it off at about the two-hour mark. There is absolutely no internet time allowed if he is grounded. He gets to use the computers at school, so I don’t think I’m being too strict. My son’s Facebook profile is connected to mine and that way I can see that he only befriends kids his own age and family members. I won’t even allow him to be linked to friends of the family, because adults are more likely to forget that they have to have child-appropriate content. I don’t want Joshua to be exposed to the private lives of adults just yet.
Last winter my husband and I were both getting the winter blues and decided we needed a bit of sunshine. We both had some vacation time at work to use so we decided that we would take full advantage of it. I checked on a few Places online and found the perfect spot. We would be going to the Bahamas. We both had about two weeks to use so we couldn’t think of a better way to spend it. I made the arrangements, we packed everything up, set the ADT home security system, and headed for the airport. The smell of coconut and seawater tickled the air and it was enough to make even the most sorrowful person feel good. The sunshine was abundant and warmed your body all the way through. This is just what we needed. We spent the majority of the two weeks laying on the beach during the day, and dancing on the sand at night. We had so much fun and made so many memories.We both have said that these were possibly the best two weeks of our life. We have decided that every winter, as long as we are able, we will go back. We will go back to our lovely, sunlit, paradise. This is the kind of place that inspires poetry and song. This is the kind of place that can make two people fall deeper in love. There is no other place as beautiful to me in the entire world. I think that all people should experience the Bahamas at least one time in their life. They are sure to never forget it and it will leave them wanting more!
Eric Buchman, the fourth place player of the 2009 November Nine, had more tournament experience than most of the players who walked away with higher cash prizes. Having won just short of $1 million in tournaments prior to his WSOP Main Event final table, Buchman tripled his total winnings with the large cash prize that he took away from the event. This wasn’t his first big performance, however. He earned the runner-up position in a 2007 WSOP event and has had significant wins in other varieties of poker (including Stud and Omaha).
Buchman graduated from Hewlett High School in New York, and still resides in New York, in Valley Stream. After high school, he pursued the path of the professional poker player, winning 10 cash prizes from WSOP events and various victories in other poker circuits, including notable victories in the U.S. Poker Championships.
Buchman seems to have a talent for making it to the final table. He was narrowly beat at another 2009 event by Phil Ivey, a loss no one should be ashamed of, and made it to the final table in U.S. Poker Championships on two different occasions. There have been very few tournament victories for this talented player. His only first place title comes from the 2004 New England Poker Classic (NEPC) tour, where he won the main event and over a quarter of a million dollars.
While he may not be noted as one of the top winners, he has an ever growing bankroll and more versatility than many other players. His live tournament play extends well beyond Texas Holdem.
