I am one of those who have taken almost all kinds of antibiotics. This is due to my recurrent urinary tract infections and upper respiratory tract infections. I even came to a point that I need to get a sensitivity test just to identify the antibiotic that is still effective to me.

With this, I tried to resort to Nature’s wonder: herbals. Somebody suggested that I try the Oregano oil since it is believed to be a very potent antibiotic. Oregano extract is already known to be a good preservative since they prevent the formation of microbes in foods. It makes sense then that it can also be used by humans as an alternative to expensive antibiotics.

Also, since my urinary tract infection sometimes causes other parts of my urinary system to inflame, I also decided to try the Bio D-Mulsion. This is an emulsion of Vitamin D only that it is prepared using the micro emulsion technology for easier absorption.

These two products indeed made wonders to me. I no longer fear becoming too resistant to synthetic antibiotics and having to suffer the pain of inflamed bladder.

Mesothelioma Help

Did you know that close to 3,000 Americans are diagnosed with Mesothelioma each year?

If you’ve been exposed to asbestos at your workplace and you have these symptoms - shortness of breath and/or chest pain, pleural effusions, weight loss, cough, weakness, fever, loss of appetite, Hemoptysis (coughing up blood), hoarseness, Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), pain or swelling of the abdomen and bowel obstruction, you must consult your doctor right away because you might be suffering from Pleural or Peritoneal Mesothelioma.

You can find more information about this deadly disease at mesotheliomahelp.net. They can also help you find legal help should you decide to file a lawsuit against your former employer.

National STD Testing

A few years ago, there was a news story about a former presidential daughter filing a case against a former lover for allegedly exposing her with a sexually transmitted disease. It took the whole nation by storm since the daughter was a well-known celebrity in that country.

With this, I can draw a conclusion that sexually transmitted disease or more known as STD, does not choose the person it infects. As long as the person is sexually active and is having multiple partners, the chance of having STD is high.

Nowadays, the government is doing every possible move they can to prevent or at least lower down the prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases. According to statistics, even teenagers are now exposed to this kind of infection. With this, an annual std testing has been recommended by the government.

Std testing usually takes days or even a weeks before the result is released especially if it is given free by the government. Someone who wants to know the result immediately cannot rely on this.

Good thing, there is the national std testing. With their network of laboratories nationwide, a patient is assured of a same day std testing. Although the testing requires a certain fee, it is guaranteed to be minimal. They also have a great selection of preventive tests and other health tests for every individual not to mention the availability of counselors, with years of experience on their hands, who will assess the vulnerability of the person to certain transmitted diseases. Finally, the confidentiality they provide from the information gathered about a patient up to the delivery of result makes them a good choice of same day std testing.

Mesothelioma, a rare and deadly form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, has been an ordeal that my Dad’s friend had to undergo. This disease brought in lots of support from friends and families as he was a well loved man in our community. It was a real shock when it came first to our knowledge. According to him, he acquired it from a summer job he had worked for when he was still in the university. He had to work for part time in an insulation processing plant to be able to meet both ends. Needless to say, that summer stint he had caused him an unexplainable pain not only by him but by his loved ones as well. It was very difficult that everybody had to find ways to understand what was happening. Then one day, a book started to clear up some gray parts of Mesothelioma Cancer.

Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient’s Guide” is written by mesothelioma survivor Paul Kraus. Showcasing a moving story about a person struggling to survive Mesothelioma, this book is for anybody who wants to understand the disease. It’s packed with hope and encouragement and some practical suggestions that will benefit not only the cancer survivors but the surrounding loved ones and health professionals as well.

10 Diet Motivation Tips

One of the major reasons why dieting fails is because we lack motivation. So before I resort to the best diet pills, I searched far and wide for some motivational tips to help me stay on track in my weight loss journey and here’s what I found. It’s an article written by Dr Wynnie Chan where she shares 10 motivational tips to keep your diet on course and avoid being tempted by high fat, high calorie foods.

1. Plan ahead.
If you’re going to a party straight after work, eat something before you go so that you don’t dive into the nearest plate of snacks when you arrive. Go for something filling, such as a sandwich or a bowl of wholegrain cereal with skimmed or semi skimmed milk.

2. Choose wisely.
If you haven’t got time to eat before the party, chose your snacks carefully. Breadsticks are a great choice but watch out for those dips. An average portion of houmous contains 6g fat and 90 calories compared with the same amount of taramasalata that has 25g fat and 250 calories.

3. Drink a glass of water.
If you haven’t got time to eat and want to resist snacks totally then drink a glass of water to help fill your stomach and keep your hunger at bay.

4. Sugar free gum.
Chewing gum tends to stop you from nibbling bits of food while you’re cooking. It might not look very sophisticated when you have guests but it could just save you from overeating, and let you enjoy your meal.

5. Stock up on dried fruits.
Dried fruits are low in fat and high in fibre. A good handful also counts as one of your fruit servings for the day. Read more… »

Here’s another article I found on the web that’s worth sharing. This was written by Lucy Danziger, SELF Editor-in-Chief. Here goes…

Have trouble getting motivated to work out? Find yourself counting the minutes till you can get off the treadmill and hit the showers? If so, well, sorry to say, you may not be getting as fit as you would if you enjoyed your sessions: The energy used to outrun negative thoughts (”When will this be over? This machine is so boring!”) takes the juice out of your routine by slowing you down or cutting your exercise time short, according to a study from University of Portsmouth in Great Britain.

By finding intrinsic fun in your workout rather than fixating on the pounds you have to shave off (or the minutes you have left to go), you’ll actually work out more effectively—and see better results! For me, fun is a long bike ride with my teammates, or a meditative early morning swim, but when the weather is crummy and I have to hit the gym, even a new playlist can psych me up. Want to start looking forward to your fit time? Try these ideas to make workouts feel like playouts!

EXERCISE ALFRESCO

Simply getting off the treadmill and jogging around your neighborhood is likely to put a spring in your step. Research reveals that firming up outside is more of a confidence and mood booster than the equivalent activity indoors. Plus, moving in the fresh air makes you twice as likely to clock 30 minutes of exercise most days. Find a pretty, safe loop near you, use a smartphone app like RunKeeper or Cardio Trainer to map a course in your neighborhood, hike a new trail with a rewarding view, stop to do pull-ups from the monkey bars at the playground, hit the yard with your kids for a friendly game of touch football or do your yoga routine in your yard or the park.

Beating the Odds

Being diagnosed with Malignant Mesothelioma is like being issued with a death sentence. This disease has no known cure. Even if you undergo surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy, your chances of survival is very little. But even with little hope, Paul Krus, diagnosed of mesothelioma cancer 13 years ago, has beaten the odds. After finding out his life-threatening diagnosis, he did not wallow in self-pity and depression. Instead, he worked with his doctors to create his own regimen to heal his illness.

Today, Mr. Krus shares his story in his book Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient’s Guide, on how he beat the odds so that others may too. And he is giving away limited FREE COPIES to newly diagnosed mesothelioma patients. All you have to do is go to this website and fill out the form: www.survivingmesothelioma.com. And when you’re done, don’t forget to check out their tips on how to choose a Mesothelioma Lawyer. You will need the assistance of a Mesothelioma Attorney especially if you contracted mesothelioma from asbestos exposure at your workplace.

Sicky…

I am the kind of person who rarely gets sick but after all the emotional rollercoaster I’ve been through these past few months, my body finally gave in to the stress. Now I’m down with the FLU. I’ve been sick since Wednesday and I need another week to fully recover. But I don’t have that luxury of time right now because hubby is leaving this Tuesday to attend his father’s burial in the Philippines. This means I have to take care of Jaden all by myself while he’s out of the country for one week. I’m not sure if I can handle it but I have to… *sigh* If only I have my family nearby. :(

Well anyway, some of our friends here offered to help. They promised to call and drop by from time to time to check on us. My closest friend even offered to stay with us for the meantime but I declined because I don’t want to cause her any inconvenience. If she stays with us, she will have to drive an hour or more just to get to her workplace plus another 30 minutes to get to her second job where she cares for this elderly with Mesothelioma cancer. So you see, it’s way too much hassle on her part.

Ensuring Good Health

My FIL just got out of the hospital and is now undergoing a full body detox program. He is suffering from COPD and his heavy weight makes it harder for him to breathe and move around. Although a detox wasn’t exactly what his doctor advised him to do to lose weight but my MIL thought it’s the best way to kick start a “healthier” lifestyle. We don’t know how my MIL convinced my FIL but we are really glad he “surrendered” himself. But as expected, he had complaints. Read more… »

Hellooo!

Just taking a quick peek here! I know some of who have been wondering and worrying why I haven’t updated my blogs for almost 2 weeks. Well, here’s the reason why:

I strained my left wrist and thumb last New Year and was advised to stay away from my laptop so as not to further aggravate the swollen tendon and nerves. Dr. L knows I’m a blogger which explains why blogging was on top of the no-no list. Hehe! My OB also advised me to wear an immobilizer to prevent more injury and to make sure I heal the soonest possible time because D-day is fast approaching.

So that’s it girls. I didn’t give birth yet. I’m just temporarily disabled as of the moment that’s why I was missing in action for days. ;)

To all those who left messages on my blogs, sent SMS and emails, thank you so much. I am deeply touched with your concern. I didn’t know I have this much friends until now. Luv yah all! Read more… »
